Ngamba Makes Historic Leap to Professional Boxing Following Olympic Success

Olympic bronze medalist Cindy Ngamba is set to begin her professional boxing career in March 2025, months after making history as the first-ever athlete from the Refugee Olympic Team to win an Olympic medal.

The Cameroonian-born, British-based boxer will step into the professional arena on 7 March 2025, debuting at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Her fight will feature on the undercard of the highly anticipated world title bout between Lauren Price and Natasha Jonas.

Ngamba earned her place in the history books at Paris 2024, claiming bronze in the women’s 75kg category. Her journey ended in the semi-finals after a hard-fought match against Atheyna Bylon of Panama. Despite the defeat, her achievement marked a monumental milestone for the Refugee Olympic Team and brought inspiration to countless people worldwide.

Reflecting on her next chapter, Ngamba stated,

“It is time for me to show what I am capable of and to continue representing myself, Great Britain, and refugees around the world.”

A three-time national champion in England before her Olympic debut, Ngamba’s remarkable accomplishments have also earned her induction into the English Institute of Sport’s prestigious Hall of Fame.

Her opponent for the professional debut is yet to be announced, but the 26-year-old is brimming with confidence and determination. Speaking to BBC Sport, Ngamba said,

“I have shared the ring with the best of the best in the Olympics and as an amateur. Now, I want to face the best as a professional and push myself to my limits. I’m excited to showcase my skills and begin this new chapter in my career.”

The Royal Albert Hall, an iconic venue in London, will serve as the backdrop for Ngamba’s historic professional debut, signaling a new and promising phase for a boxer who continues to break barriers and inspire on the global stage.
