AFBC’s Commitment to Strengthening African Boxing
The African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Board of Directors, during its physical meeting held on February 6–7, 2025, in Addis Ababa, reaffirmed its commitment to establishing a solid and sustainable foundation for African boxing. This decision follows a thorough assessment of the challenges currently affecting the confederation, underscoring the need for constructive dialogue and strategic negotiations with key stakeholders.
In line with this vision, the Board has clearly defined the objectives of the upcoming negotiations:
- Foster a culture of constructive and inclusive engagement within African boxing
- Ensure that the growth and development of boxing remain at the heart of all strategic initiatives.
- Unify all African national federations under one strong, cohesive confederation.
- Safeguard the integrity, reputation, and global standing of AFBC and the International Boxing Association (IBA).
- Uphold peace, unity, and stability across the African boxing community.
To advance these priorities, the AFBC Board has mandated President Eyassu Wossen Berhanu and Vice President Siyabulela Mkwalo to lead the negotiation process with General Luyoyo and Mr. Anderson Lukelo Willilo. The discussions are scheduled to take place on February 19, 2025, in Dubai, with proceedings being observed by two representatives from the IBA.
The AFBC remains committed to transparency and will provide an official update following the conclusion of the negotiations.
Stay engaged as we continue shaping the future of African boxing!
