Boxing Becomes Part of the School Curriculum in Comoros

Boxing has officially been introduced as a school sport in Comoros, marking a groundbreaking achievement for the nation. This milestone was made possible through the efforts of the Comorian Boxing Federation (FCB), with financial backing from the French Embassy in Comoros and the unwavering support of the Comorian government, particularly the Ministry of National Education.

The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to integrating combat sports into the national school sports programs. Under the banner of the project titled "Educational and Women's Boxing in Schools," the initiative was launched the last Thursday at Coulée 2 Public Primary School, which also hosts Sans Fil Public Primary School.

The launch event, led by FCB Vice President Loukman Azali, was attended by officials from the Ministry of National Education, including Director of Policy and Programs Boinaheri Halidi, as well as school leaders, inspectors, and physical education staff.

During the event, boxing equipment was handed over to the two schools and their coaches, followed by an engaging workshop on educational and women's boxing. In his address, Loukman Azali expressed deep gratitude to the French Embassy for its support and to the Ministry of National Education for facilitating the implementation of this ambitious initiative.

The inclusion of boxing in school curriculums marks a turning point for the sport in Comoros. The FCB leadership, especially the National Technical Directorate led by Abasse Iliasse, and the Commission for Educational and Women’s Boxing, coordinated by Ahmed Adria and Abou Mohamed, played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life.

Vice President Azali highlighted the program's potential to curb juvenile delinquency while promoting solidarity among students. He also assured the parents and heads of the 30 schools participating in the project of the program's positive impact.

This initiative is not just about education, it aims to identify future champions who may represent Comoros in international competitions, including the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games, which the nation is preparing to host.

With this project, Comoros sets a precedent for integrating sports and education, paving the way for holistic student development. Good luck to the coaches, facilitators, and students embarking on this exciting journey!

This achievement marks a proud moment for Comorian boxing and promises a brighter future for the nation's youth.
