OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM AFBC PRESIDENT EYASSU WOSSEN

It is with profound sadness that we have learned of the passing of Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju Success Segun, who tragically collapsed in the ring and later succumbed to his condition. On behalf of the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC), I extend my deepest condolences to his family, teammates, and the entire Nigerian boxing community during this heartbreaking time.

Olanrewaju Success Segun was a dedicated athlete who displayed the true spirit of boxing, courage, determination, and passion. His commitment to the sport was an inspiration, and his untimely passing is a great loss to African boxing. We mourn with his loved ones and with the entire boxing fraternity, and we stand in solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy.

AFBC remains committed to the safety and well-being of all our boxers. We will continue to work closely with national federations to ensure the highest standards of medical care and athlete protection are upheld in our sport.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy as a fighter live on in the hearts of those who knew and admired him.
