
Uganda Boxing Federation Takes Bold Steps Towards Compliance with the New Sports Act 2023
The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) recently held its first stakeholders meeting with key partners who were previously involved in managing professional boxing under the repealed sports act. The meeting, described by UBF President Mr. Moses Muhangi as a “pivotal moment for the sport,” laid the groundwork for important resolutions and next steps to shape the future of boxing in Uganda.
The discussions focused on aligning with the provisions of the New Sports Act 2023, which designates UBF as the governing body for both amateur and professional boxing in the country.
UBF is actively preparing for this transition by implementing internal reforms and ensuring compliance with the new regulations. These efforts, referred to by Mr. Moses Muhangi as “cleaning our house,” aim to ensure a smooth re-registration process and establish a strong foundation for the future of boxing in Uganda.
