AFBC President Eyassu Wossen Berhanu: No Negotiations with Illegal Individuals

The African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) President, Eyassu Wossen, has firmly stated that neither he nor the Board of Directors (BoD) has requested or agreed to any form of negotiation with individuals engaged in illegal activities, particularly former AFBC Vice President General Luyoyo. President Berhanu reiterated that AFBC remains fully capable of resolving its internal matters, upholding proper governance and ethical leadership.

Despite AFBC’s clear position, the International Boxing Association (IBA), through its Vice President Mr. Abdulmutalim Abakarov, has expressed a commitment to supporting AFBC in addressing its challenges. As part of this effort, a discussion is scheduled for next week in Dubai, where Mr. Abakarov will engage with President Eyassu Wossen and other key figures. However, AFBC leadership has stressed that this meeting is strictly a discussion—not a negotiation—with no agreements involving illegal individuals, particularly General Luyoyo.

"We appreciate IBA’s commitment to engage, but AFBC will not negotiate under any circumstances with individuals involved in illegal activities. Discussions will be held to ensure the integrity of African boxing," President Berhanu stated. He reaffirmed AFBC’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, ensuring that the confederation remains governed by legitimate leadership and ethical principles.

AFBC will soon reveal the full list of participants joining the discussions in Dubai as the organization continues to prioritize integrity and the development of African boxing. Further updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
