
Ethiopian Youth Boxing Championship Concludes in Wolaita Sodo
The Ethiopian Youth Boxing Championship, which kicked off on January 27, 2025 (Tir 27, 2017 E.C.), successfully concluded yesterday in Wolaita Sodo, Southern Ethiopia. The tournament, held over ten days, brought together 160 young boxers from across the country, showcasing the next generation of Ethiopian boxing talent.
A total of 10 regional teams competed in the men’s category, while 6 regional teams participated in the women’s division. The championship served as a key platform to identify and nurture promising young boxers, helping to shape the future of Ethiopian boxing on both national and international levels.
The event highlighted the growing interest and development of boxing in Ethiopia, reinforcing the importance of youth engagement in sports, discipline, and competition. Officials and spectators praised the athletes for their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
With such strong performances, many of these young boxers are expected to make an impact in future national and continental competitions. The Ethiopian Boxing Federation has expressed its commitment to further supporting grassroots boxing programs and talent development initiatives.
